Custom GRG ceiling skylight

We were recently commissioned to create a custom GRG ceiling skylight for the training ground of a Premier League football team. The Glass Reinforced Gypsum feature was manufactured in four sections at our workshop near Bromley, then pieced together and installed on site at the club’s training venue. We captured the manufacturing process using a time lapse camera and the video can be viewed below.
The process involved the creation of a bespoke mould and casting of the four quadrants that make up the custom GRG ceiling skylight. The video clip shows one of the four sections being cast and released from the mould. The process was repeated to create four separate pieces.
GRG is a fantastic material for creating custom wall and ceiling features as it can be shaped to follow curves in two directions, patterned and decorated to virtually any design. GRG mouldings such as these for the ceiling skylight are light, strong and flame retardant, being Class 0 fire rated. Finished pieces can also accommodate speakers, sprinklers, alarms, cameras, lighting and other features.
