Our GRG Column Covers Range
Posted on 24th August 2021
If you have a requirement to hide or encase supporting structures and services in your building’s interior then our GRG column covers range provides a perfect solution. We manufacture Glass Reinforced Gypsum (GRG) column encasements in sizes ranging from 200mm to 1000mm in diameter, with increments of 50mm. Usually supplied in two halves, these strong and lightweight column casings create a smooth radius external surface that can be painted or decorated to compliment the room space. GRG column covers are swift to install and are fire resistant, with Class ‘O’ fire propagation to BS476-6.
Should you require a specific size or joint design we are always willing to custom-make column casings to architects specifications. Below is an example drawing of a 500mm diameter GRG column encasement by way of illustration.
For more information on available sizes or to view our technical drawings please visit the GRG column covers page where you will find this information. Alternatively, if you have a bespoke requirement please get in touch and provide your measurements and specification.
Glass-Reinforced Gypsum is a mix of two materials, a high-density gypsum and glass fibre strands which provide reinforcement. The added strength of combining these materials allows a longer lifespan and opens up the possibilities of what one can do with it.
The advantages to an architect of using GRG is in the consistent quality and finish of the product and the bespoke designs which can be achieved, particularly with radiused curves.
