Dome curved wall installation for By Dr. Vali – Selfridges
Posted on 18th October 2022
We recently finished this bespoke double sided Glassfibre Reinforced Gypsum (GRG) wall installation for Heydon and Carr at the By Dr. Vali 360 Experiential Centre located in Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street.
Designed by Hamiltons Architects, it required DVC to manufacture and fit a double curvature domed wall assembly stretching five metres in length and three metres in height. The wall was constructed in several panels moulded in GRG and finished on-site to provide a monolithic surface suitable for decorating, subsequently completed with a specialist metallic paint finish to meet brand requirements.
GRG is ideal for creating unique and highly visible design features such as this, as it can be moulded in to concave or convex forms with curves in two directions, domes, spheres and coves. Surfaces can be made completely monolithic or have imprint details applied, and manufactured to accommodate fixtures such as lighting, speakers or security systems.
