THE SCENARIO: Within London’s Heathrow Airport is an El Al Airlines premier traveller perk – for those wishing to hold relaxed business meetings in style. The fit-out of the new lounge resulted in a real place of interest for passengers to enjoy.
THE SCOPE: Our work entailed manufacture and installation of a feature ceiling consisting of curved elliptical GRG suspended drop-down fins. Additionally, the design incorporated innovative elements including a coffered ceiling with integral effective lighting design.
OUR SOLUTION: We undertook a full site survey and looked at the drawings presented to us by the architect. Following some consultation we formulated an alternative methodology to fix the ceiling.
We invested a lot of time producing technical drawings and 3D visualisations in order to be able to manufacture exact moulds and casts. Our ability to utilise our CNC capability means we can deliver to architects exact product design; errors are reduced and we can work to higher levels of tolerance. We provided computer generated images (CGI) to Pascall+Watson prior to build which provided practical build advantages.
During installation, we were able to work out of normal hours, during weekends, and amongst other trades in order to get the project completed on time.
The exceptional quality and design of the finished product resulted in an award nomination under the International Design Excellence Awards.
